Government Funding for Sales Training

What is the Canada Job Grant?

The Canada-Ontario Job Grant is a program that offers financial assistance to employers who want to provide training to their new or existing employees.

It offers non-repayable grants to improve the quality and frequency of training, while also enabling employers to provide training for a greater number of employees.

How much do I have to contribute?

Through this program, employers are required to contribute a portion of the training costs, while the government covers up to 50-83% of the expenses.

In collaboration with accredited organizations like In The Funnel, your company can access professional sales training worth up to $10,000 - $15,000 per employee, based on certain eligibility criteria.

What kinds of training are covered by the Canada Job Grant?

Training is driven by the employer’s identified skills needs and must be delivered by a qualified third-party trainer. Popular training topics include:

  • Business development training, including sales, marketing, and leadership training.

  • Soft skills training, such as advanced ERP and CRM system modules and Microsoft/Adobe software.

  • Technical skills training, including lean manufacturing, web design, coding, engineering, and drafting.

Most eligible expenses related directly to the training project are covered. The two most common costs include tuition or fees charged by the training provider, textbooks, software or other required training materials.

WHAT TYPES OF TRAINING EXPENSES ARE ELIGIBLE FOR FUNDING?

There is no limit to the number of trainees; however, each participant must be eligible for the program to count towards its funding contribution. Competitive applications should include title promotions and/or wage increases for participants. These can occur up to 52 weeks after training has been completed.

HOW MANY TRAINEES CAN USE THIS GRANT?

Funding for this program is renewed annually in April, so now is an ideal time to take advantage of it.

WHEN IS FUNDING FOR THE PROGRAM MADE AVAILABLE TO EMPLOYERS?
